THE SOLAR DECISION, EXPLAINED

Your electric bill is the starting point, not just a dollar amount.

For a solar review, the most useful bill details are the service address, electric utility, rate plan, electricity use in kWh and billing period. A dollar total by itself does not show how much electricity the home uses.

Find these five items

  1. Service address: confirm that it is the property being reviewed, not the mailing address.
  2. Utility and generation provider: note whether separate organizations supply and deliver your electricity.
  3. Rate plan: keep the tariff name and any time-of-use labels visible.
  4. Usage in kWh: look for the current period and a usage-history chart, if present.
  5. Billing dates and charges: identify the period covered and distinguish electric service from gas or other services.

Why one expensive month can mislead

A bill can rise because of higher usage, different rates or a longer billing period. Those are different explanations. A proposal needs to identify the usage period it models and whether that period represents your household.

For example, tell the reviewer if you recently added an EV, changed heating equipment or moved into the home. Do not treat last year’s usage as a complete forecast if your household has changed. Let us know when available history is limited.

When the bill needs more context

SituationWhat to identify for review
Electricity and gas on one statementSeparate electric kWh and charges from gas therms and unrelated amounts. A combined payment is not electric consumption.
More than one meter or service accountIdentify which service serves the proposed system. Do not combine separate meters into one usage total without confirming the intended design and utility arrangement.
Limited history after a moveState the actual dates available. A single month is not verified annual usage; a forecast needs its assumptions shown.
Seasonal heating, cooling or a poolProvide available monthly history and identify unusual seasons. Do not multiply one atypical month by twelve and label it measured annual usage.
Planned EV or appliance changesDescribe what is changing. Expected future consumption should be identified separately from the recorded history.

Keep the useful details, protect the rest

Summit National Energy accepts a private bill upload to start a reviewed estimate. You may black out account and payment numbers. Keep the service address, utility, usage and rate information readable. We do not need your utility password.

The uploaded document is used for quote preparation and handled under our privacy details. Do not submit someone else’s private bill without permission.

What happens after you upload

Add your name and email, select your payment and battery preferences, then review the request. Phone is optional. Our team prepares the estimate in Aurora and reviews it before emailing you. The upload confirmation means we received the request; it does not mean a proposal has already been prepared.

Missing information can require follow-up. If your bill is not handy, use the simple inquiry to start instead.
